… visual language translated to interviews ...

Euphoria S2 departed from S1, pushing its visuals into a new space.

The show moved into a darker world, a grainer take on reality where often characters sat outside of the light.

Euphoria S2 feels to me as though it is set in a universe of cinematic ambience.
The shows visuals seem to focus on creating spaces that are cinematic,
and when the camera moves in to a close up it lets the subjects remain as they would in these environments
rather than augmenting them to have a polished commercial look.

Here are examples of the darker moments of the show that still exist in close up:

When taken out of the context of a scene, my hunch is these close ups might feel a little under lit.

So of course the proposition is simply to take the middle ground,
pull reference from the most polished moments of the show.

But are these frames lacking enough light on the faces for an interview type moment?

Perhaps its Euphoria as a reference but a little more polished look on the faces.

Use film conversion LUT Ian owns
Grain overlays in post
Haze sets
Work with textured dark backgrounds …. location dependant, is the rental studio all white?

I love this frame of Daniel Day Lewis!

Perhaps there’s some inspiration in there.
