  1. Seated Portrait

  2. Standing Portrait

  3. Standing Portrait with coloured set-pieces

1 - Seated Portrait

  • Redefine the look of the studio by cover windows with drapes and sheers.

  • Create texture by looking towards the borders of the curtains and the existing walls.

  • Use a low armed sofa for wide shots

  • Create extra lead space in the frame for copy.

  • Use the high arm of a chair for close-ups as a place to rest arms.

  • Use hints of Natural Sunlight throughout to breathe life into the portraits.

2 - Standing Portrait - dimensional wall & curtains

  • Create a neutral tone, dimensional background to give an abstract sense of space in the studio.

  • work on the edges of the sunlight to feel its energy.

  • Use two tones of the curtain to create an edge to the frame that does not have copy.

3 - Standing Portrait - Coloured Set Pieces

  • Introduce coloured set pieces to stylistically break up the studio environment

  • Create separation between the floor and the set pieces

  • Play with options on a stool.

3 - Street Portrait

  • 3/4 and Close Up portraits of Andrea on a Toronto street.

  • Use perspective lines to guide the eye to the subject

  • Stand amongst some late-day sunshine as a backlight.

  • Find existing greenery to drive the imagery towards spring / early summer.

5 - Cafe Portraits

  • Create Conversational portraiture inside the coffee shop

  • Mix both 1st person & 3rd person perspective, feeling as though you are there having a coffee with Andrea.

  • Use the windows to motivate bright daylight in a nice space.

  • Find a moment of contemplation at the end of it all.
